Pinpoint accuracy
IH provides clean heating for medical devices where sterility is essential.
IH, which heats small areas with non-contact and pinpoint accuracy, is ideal for catheter tip fabrication and needle welding, where precision and reliability are required.
Catheter-Tipping
Forming a rounded tip on the catheter tubing allows insertion into the human body with minimal damage to body tissue (minimally invasive surgical treatment).
Catheter-tipping molds are usually made of small stainless steel and housed in a brass water-cooled jacket.
By heating this mold with IH, the heat from the mold melts the inserted polyvinyl tubing, which is then poured into the mold and formed.
A wire is placed in the tube to prevent the tip from being blocked during molding.
Precise temperature control is critical to maintain consistent heating and pouring of the mold.
An infrared radiation thermometer is used to measure the mold temperature, and the signal is fed back to the induction heating power supply to control the heating.
Needle welding
Until now, it has been said that IH is not good at heating very small objects such as hypodermic needles.
Alonics has solved this problem by using a high-frequency amplifier.
By using a high-frequency amplifier to apply a high frequency in the MHz range, an ultra-fine injection needle (SUS pipe) is instantly heated and welded to the needle hub.
IH enables non-contact and highly reproducible heating in a short time.
Advantages of IH
- Meets tight production tolerances with precise localized heat to small areas creating pinpoint accuracy
- Increases production rates with faster heating cycles
- Reduces defect rates with repeatable, reliable heat
